Sworn in on Wednesday 14 May 2025, Cllr Greer becomes the first Black woman of Caribbean heritage to hold the position in the London Borough of Enfield—a borough known for its diversity, resilience, and vibrant communities. Her appointment reflects a significant moment of representation, pride, and progress for the Montserratian diaspora and the wider Caribbean community in the UK.
In her inaugural remarks, Cllr Greer shared a deeply rooted vision for unity and community upliftment:
“I am proud and honoured to become Mayor of this great, vibrant and diverse borough. I am committed to serving the people of Enfield to the best of my abilities with faith, compassion and devotion to our community, and I promise to ensure that every resident feels seen, heard, and valued.”
Her focus for the year ahead includes strengthening community well-being, supporting voluntary and charitable organisations, and fostering inclusive cultural participation. She added:
“Community is not just about where we live; it’s about how we support, uplift and empower each other through healthy living and well-being in accessing services for cultural need and activities.”
Throughout her term, Cllr Greer will support three key charities that reflect her commitment to health, heritage, and community care:
As Mayor, she will attend over 500 community engagements alongside her Deputy, Cllr Nelly Gyosheva.
Cllr Greer is well known for her longstanding work in public service and her advocacy for racial equity and social justice. A proud woman of Montserratian heritage, she continues to exemplify values of service, integrity, and cultural pride—making her an inspiring figure not only for the borough of Enfield but for Montserratians across the UK.
We extend our warmest congratulations and look forward to supporting her continued impact throughout her mayoral year.
